Headache treatment in home
symptoms of a tension headache within a
couple minutes so let's get started
what is attention headache attention
headache is a headache that arises from
the back of the neck into the back of
the skull can radiate over the eyes into
the ears or into the TMJ tension
headaches cause pain in all those
regions it happens in a tension headache
is the muscles behind the neck that go
into the skull begin to contract when a
muscle contracts it tightens as it
tightens it puts pressures on the nerves
and the vessels that run from the back
of the skull around the head into the
eyes into the ears and into the TMJ
these vessels get compressed it deprives
those tissues of oxygen and your
symptoms begin when you take a look at
this picture you'll see the suboccipital
triangle in area behind the skull where
hundreds of nerves innervate the head
the face the ears the eyes when these
muscles and these tissues get irritated
they cause a whole array of symptoms now
also from this area you'll see there's a
ton of different muscles that insert and
attach into the back of this head region
so as you're sitting in front of the
computer as your shoulders rounded forward
as your head goes forward what that does
is that's gonna put a constant strain on
the back of the tissues of the neck that
go into the head when this happens
things tighten up and your symptoms of
headaches and tightness begin so I'm
going to show you how to relieve this
very very simple what you're gonna do is
this you're gonna take your hand and
I'll turn around so you can say but
you're gonna take your hand you're going
to start on the back your head and
you're gonna go down to this bump here
this bump here is what's called your
occiput it's the base of the skull now
as you come down off of this occiput
you'll fall into a little dip here this
area here this pocket here is where all
the muscles from the neck the upper back
attach this is where the nerves come out
that innervate the head and give you
these symptoms of headaches the tension
headaches that arise from this area and
cause about eighty% of people's headings
these days so what we're going to do is
we're going to drop our thumb down off
of that into them dip in there we're
going to start right behind where the
ear is and we're gently gonna use our
thumb and we're gonna roll in circles
for about five seconds here we'll move
over we'll go five seconds and we'll
continue working our way to the center
of the skull here and we'll gently rub
these muscles and you'll feel your
tension start to dissipate and your
headache will start to dissipate as well
and you're going to go right to the
center line here once you get that
center line you'll take your other hand
start behind the ear throw up five
seconds circular motions five seconds
and you'll continue all the way to the
center of the skull and what you'll do
is you will repeat that three to five
times gently you don't have to put too
much pressure enough to help relieve the
tension and relieve some of the symptoms
that you're having this works for a
significant amount of people we do it in
our office on our patients that come in
with headaches and we get great results
we've been doing it for twanty one years so it's
a great tip for me to show you how to
relieve pressure from a headache from
tension in the back of your neck when
you're sitting at work
